Get a Financial Contribution for a Course

Do you want to improve your position at the Slovak labour market or increase your qualification? You can get a financial contribution for an educational/retraining course.

Important information!
We offer the opportunity to apply for a financial contribution for an educational/retraining course for temporary protection holders or people from Ukraine with temporary residence in Slovakia.
The condition is that you finish the course by 31 May2024.
It is also possible to apply for a contribution for a course that is currently in progress or for one that you have already completed in the period 2023 - 2024.
Please fill out the online form, then we will contact you. For more information, please contact us at .

The prerequisite and one of the conditions for the grant is that the course can help you in your search for a new job, improve your position in your current job or business, or help you to enter the labour market in your field.

The allowance can be used for accredited training or retraining courses (such as a vocational course in Slovak language, an accounting course, a PC course, a massage, hairdressing or beauty course, etc.). It can also be an online course, provided that the training agency issues you with a certificate and invoice for the course. MIC IOM does not provide a financial contribution to the costs associated with language preparation for university studies and the costs associated with university tuition fees.

The following applicants may apply for a financial contribution for a training/retraining course (hereinafter referred to as 'the contribution'):

The validity of the applicant's residence permit should last for at least six months from the date of receipt of the application by the IOM Migration Information Centre and for the duration of the course for which he/she wishes to apply.

For applicants who have been granted temporary refuge in Slovakia ("departees") and whose validity of stay is less than 6 months but who are awaiting an extension of their validity of stay, we will take this into account when assessing their application for a financial contribution.

If you are applying for a financial contribution for a course, you should have a level of proficiency in Slovak or another language in which the course will take place that is sufficient to enable you to complete the course successfully.

If the grant is approved, the applicant must sign a Contract with the IOM for the provision of a non-repayable financial contribution for the training/retraining course.  If the applicant has paid for or enrolled in the course before the Financial Contribution Contract has been signed, the IOM will not be able to provide a contribution for the course.  The financial contribution is paid retroactively, after successful completion of the course and submission of the necessary documentation. There is no legal entitlement to the financial contribution.
