Changed rules - at which Foreign Police department can you submit your application?

If you want to submit an application for residence, you need to book an appointment through the reservation system of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic. Without a booked appointment, your application will not be accepted. Rules on the possibility to submit applications at any Foreign Police department have been modified. This broadens situations when you can submit applications at a Foreign Police department of your choice, regardless of the place of your residence.
You can book your appointment and go to any Foreign Police department, if:
- You are applying for temporary residence.
- You are changing the purpose of temporary residence (e.g. from temporary residence for studies to temporary residence for employment).
- You are applying for permanent residence for five years.
- You are applying for a national visa.
- You are applying for tolerated stay.
- You are applying for issuance of a residence card as a temporary protection holder.
- You are registering your residence as an EU citizen.
- You are registering your residence as a family member of an EU citizen.
- You are applying for issuance of a residence card as an EU citizen.
- You are applying for issuance of a residence card as a family member of an EU citizen.
You must book your appointment and go to the Foreign Police department competent for your place of residence, if:
- You are renewing temporary residence.
- You are applying for long-term residence.
- You are applying for permanent residence for an unlimited time-period.
- You are applying for issuance of a residence card.
- You are applying for an invitation verification.
