How to join an online event on MS Teams

Here is a short guide for joining a webinar at the MS Teams platform.

The links for webinars organized by IOM MIC will be published on the webpage of the IOM Migration Information Centre.

How to join the event?

You can join the event through:

  1. your web browser in your PC
  2. the MS Teams app installed in your PC
  3. the app in your mobile phone

Using your web browser or the MS Teams app (in your PC)

STEP 1:

Click on the Teams weblink for the online event.

Then choose one of the options:

STEP 2:

Allow your microphone and camera for this meeting.

STEP 3:

Enter your full name and country of origin (for example: "John Smith, Australia") and click on “Join now” to join the meeting.

STEP 4:

When you join the meeting for the first time, it might occur that you will be placed in the lobby (waiting room). In this case we kindly ask you to wait until the IOM MIC staff allows you to join the meeting room.

 

Using the MS Teams app in your mobile phone

STEP 1:

Please download and install the MS Teams app in your mobile phone.

STEP 2:

Click on the Teams weblink for the online event.

STEP 3:

If you already have the Microsoft account, please log in to your account to join the MS Teams meeting.

If you do not have the Microsoft account, please click on the option “Register for free”:

STEP 4:

Click on “Join the meeting”.

STEP 5:

Please write your full name and country of origin (for example: "John Smith, Australia") and click on “Continue”.

STEP 6:

When you join the meeting for the first time, it might occur that you will be placed in the lobby (waiting room). In this case, we kindly ask you to wait until the IOM MIC staff allows you to join the meeting room.
