Social Insurance

Generally, to be entitled to social security you have to first pay social insurance contributions for certain period of time. The entitlement is therefore not established automatically, but it is necessary to have social insurance beforehand. The entitlements to particular social security benefits are established differently depending on the type of benefit. In each individual case it is necessary to check the conditions directly at the MIC or on the website of the Social Insurance Company

Social insurance benefits are:

  • sickness insurance
  • pension insurance benefits
  • accident insurance benefits
  • surety insurance benefits
  • unemployment insurance benefits

Please find more information in our booklet "Welcome to Slovakia"
