An Allowance for Multiple Children Born at the Same Time

The allowance for multiple children born at the same time is a type of state social benefit granted by the state once per year in order to cover increased costs arising as a result of due care for:

  • Three children born at the same time or multiple children born at the same time or
  • Two children repeatedly born at the same time during a period of two years, or multiple children repeatedly born at the same time during a period of two years.

Who is entitled?

Upon meeting certain conditions even a foreigner with a permanent residence on the territory  of the Slovak Republic is entitled to receive the benefit.

The entitled person is:

  • the parent of a child or
  • a natural person which based on a final court decision took the children into his/ her care as a replacement to parental care.

Conditions:

  • at least three of children are 15 years old or younger; in case of two or more children repeatedly delivered at the same time during a period of two years, the age level of children born first is taken into account,
  • a due child care provided by the entitled person and
  • permanent residence and domicile of the entitled person and children on the territory  of the Slovak Republic.

In case several persons meet the conditions, only one person, as agreed by the entitled persons, is entitled to receive the allowance, otherwise the person that claimed the allowance first is entitled.

How much?

The amount of the supplementary child allowance is 110,36 EUR and this amount is being adjusted each year on  January 1st of the calendar year. The allowance is provided once per year.
